No Consumer Reports. This privately operated guide is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Do not use its pages or linked search results for credit, employment, insurance, tenant or any other decision regulated by that law.
Check Every Record at Its Source
Public portals and office procedures can change. An index can be corrected, an assessment updated and a parcel layer revised. The guide is prepared from available source material, but no entry is promised to be complete or current at every moment. Confirm an important detail with the office that keeps the official record.
No Title, Boundary or Appraisal Opinion
A McDowell property search is not a title examination, boundary survey, appraisal or legal opinion. Recorded deeds show instruments placed in the public record; the assessor's number is for taxation; GIS lines are reference features. A title professional, licensed surveyor or attorney can address a matter requiring a professional conclusion.
Use Public Information Responsibly
Property information supports research, ownership due diligence and civic transparency. Do not use it to stalk, threaten, harass or harm anyone. Misuse may violate West Virginia or federal law and breaches the site's Terms of Use.
Outside Search Features
Some search features are supplied by an outside company. The operator does not control those results, charges or data practices. A search box is not an official county record and does not produce an FCRA consumer report.
External Government Links
Links are provided to help reach the relevant county, state or federal portal. The destination controls its content and availability; a link does not mean that the agency endorses this site.
The County Holds the Official Copy
This website does not host McDowell government deeds, tax bills, assessment files or parcel maps. It explains where those records are found. Obtain a certified copy, verify a result or ask for a correction from the responsible county or state custodian.
